Summer Medal 2011
Before you lies the second Summer Medal, designed and produced by Atelier Willem Noyons in collaboration with Ramon Verberne and Ingmar Heytze.
Summer medal is a bronze slab of 4 mm thick and 70 mm diameter, etched in a one-off limited edition series of 200. This year the summer medal is dedicated to the founding of the Utrecht Poets Guild. Ingmar Heytze is Utrecht’s first city poet and is now a member of the Utrecht Poets Guild. The face of the medal is made by artist Ramon Verberne, who placed the oldest ginkgo of Europe from the botanical gardens on the Nieuwegracht among the eternal muse and wisdom of the owl, with the Dom Tower as a fountain pen at its roots. On the text side you will find the guild motto 'Geen stof, maar licht' (No dust, but light) and in the middle a reflective surface, which can be used to target reflected light; the making of a poem, after all, also comes down to thinking with the speed of light.
